The Role Leads and coordinates activities of inspection workers in the manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with company policies and product specifications. Assesses knowledge and abilities of team, performing or coordinating training activities to ensure continuous improvement of products, processes and people. Performs inspection duties in all relevant areas of the inspection team. Specific Responsibilities May Include Leads inspection process, preparing work schedules, expediting work flow and collaborating with Quality Engineers and Quality Director to anticipate and resolve any problems related to the inspection function of the shop floor Examines inspection processes and procedures for efficiency and accuracy, making recommendations for improvement. Implements training as required to ensure compliance with customer requirements and the Quality Management System. Oversees inspection activities, ensuring adherence to policy and procedure. Mentors and develops the inspection organization, providing constructive feedback, sharing technical knowledge, and inspiring growth of other inspectors. Collects and synthesizes information related to inspection activities, preparing reports for Quality organization. Perform receiving, in-process, final dimensional, First Article (FAI) and finishing inspections to customer drawings and industry specs. Use standard inspection measuring equipment and make proper inspection set-ups from drawings, specs and inspection instructions with minimal supervision. Participates in 5s', lean manufacturing and cost reduction activities. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical equipment. The noise levels in the work environment are frequently moderate to loud. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required throughout the shop floor and hearing protection is recommended, with the exception of certain manufacturing areas, which require hearing protection at all times. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb/balance/kneel, reach, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, with assistance. The employee may be required to work in loud environments.
